These two paintings are 90 cm square. I have been able to make small scale oils which combine intuitive mark making and gesture but found it much harder to upscale. I made some sketches on A4 and then drew them roughly onto the canvas. This is a guide for composition which can adapt as work progresses. Above is day one. I have been using Golden acrylics as they were recommended to me as a good quality acrylic. I will work over with oils using glazes to reveal layers of colour beneath the surface.
