Ideas include; overlapping different thicknesses of paper and different translucencies. also experimenting with different translucencies of print quality. Using home printer, this added to my lack of techy knowledge is making it a very artisan low-tech outcome. I don’t see this as a bad thing. I want it to combine the handmade with the home -made archiving technique I have approached. Its a hybrid of museum catalogue and scrapbook. I’d like to include imagery of my experiments in the studio if it works, to include my ‘getting to know’ process which has been insightful in terms of understanding the materiality of the objects and also how this may feed into the materiality of my painting practice. I find the process of archiving, printing etc time consuming and fairly dull creatively but it’s highlighting the ways of seeing objects and the contrast in how they can be seen, held and owned. There is a vast difference in how I work in the two ways although the book element, the painting and the essay which I am writing have provided a wholeness to my practice in general which I have never experienced before and am enjoying.
