Interesting Mark making for me is the tension in the unplanned and involuntary. My response, continuing loosely with the premise of ‘place’ or ‘space’ without the restrictions of representation or expectation, I recently produced oil sketches on paper which revealed an innate yet beautiful flawed quality in the mark making. I am interested in the disparity between intentional and unintentional, abstraction, the subconscious and the artist’s internal conversation between cautious and careless.
